Arturo Perez invites you to actively participate in the dance through movement, syncopation, and musicality. His emphasis is on maintaining connection with one’s partner, thus allowing one to enjoy the dance. A much sought-after private dance instructor, Arturo has most recently taught beginner Swing dance lessons at for over 10 years at the legendary Jazz & Supper club Swing 46 on restaurant row, NYC. He is currently getting seniors on their toes through his popular Latin-Jazz class, for active seniors, and S.A.I.L. & a Matter of Balance for those striving to be more active.

Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Arturo began dancing at a very early age to Latin rhythms; his family then moved to New Orleans, where he was exposed to the music and dance of zydeco, cajun, blues, brass hop and swing genres. Currently his dance repertoire encompasses over 40 different types of dance techniques. He completed his MFA at Pratt Institute in New York City.

He has performed with the Jitterbug Kids, Fusha Dance Company, The Harlem Swingers, George Gee’s Jump, Jivin’ Wailers and many other companies and at events. He and his partner Lana Turner kicked off the 2011 Lincoln Center’s Midsummer Nights Swing with a special performance at Macy’s. Since the fall of 2009, Arturo has been studying classical ballet technique with Kat Wildish at the Ailey Extension. Other influential teachers include Carlos Perez for Argentine tango instruction.
